Apple Nut Dessert

Preheat Oven:  400`

9" x 9" Baking Pan

Ingredients:
1 C. - Sugar
3/4 C. - Sifted, all-purpose Flour
2 tsp. - Baking Powder
1 Tblsp. - Soft Shortening
1/2 C. - PET Evaporated Milk
1 tsp. - Vanilla
1/2 C. - Broken Nuts
3 C. - cut-up peeled Apple
2 Tblsp. - Brown Sugar
1/3 C. - Flour
2 Tblsp. - Softened Butter or Margarine

Directions:
1.  In a bowl mix with a fork, 1 Cup Sugar, 3/4 cup sifted, all purpose Flour, 2 teaspoons Baking Powder and 1 Tablespoon soft shortening.  Stir in 1/2 cup PET Evaporated Milk and 1 teaspoon Vanilla until well blended.

2.  Sir in 1/2 cup broken Nuts and 3 cups cut-up peeled Apple until coated with batter.  Spread evenly in a greased 9-inch square pan.

3.  Mix with a fork until crumbly:  2 tablespoons brown sugar, 1/3 cup flour, and 2 tablespoons of softened butter or margarine.  Sprinkle over apple mixture in pan.

4.  Bake in 400 degree oven (hot) 30 to 35 minutes, or until top is golden brown.  Serve warm or cold.  Spoon into dishes or cut into 9 squares.  If desired, top with ice cream!
